Hello I just found this work by accident and I totally love it!
What I probably like most is the focus here. I like the bokeh effect in the background and the unsharp parts of the leave. Even though a picture of a leaf with sparkling drops isn't something new, the focus gives this interesting feel to it.
A second thing I really like are the colors. They are so vibrant and strong, yet they feel calm and cool. The leaf is the point of attention even though there is not much of a great color contrast - that's awesome! I like the kind of gradient flow too.
One thing I would probably have changed is the overall composition, means the crop. Square fits this nicely, but you put the main subject completely symmetric in the middle of the frame. You could have tried to put it on the top or the bottom to create more excitement. In addition I think it would have been nice too to have a normal 2:3 crop with a lot more bokeh space at the left or right to create the same effect. I can only imagine here, but I guess it would be interesting to try maybe with a different shot of this series?!
Overall I really like this picture - as I said! The colors, the number of drops - nice
Thank you! I always try to get rid of that "grayish" feel my photos get when they're unedited, actually this leaf the drops are laying on is a bit red-purple but I thought it looked much more fresh with blue! Basically I did just experiment with the curves (which made it blue), brighten it up and add a lot of contrast and make the colours stand out!
Yeah it's really nice! Sometimes people complain about editing etc. But I think it takes skill to do well, and really pays off for some photos like this one I need to practise using curves to edit more I think ^_^
